Janvier
- le 19-23 janvier - Interview Prep!
- Students will receive a list of potential interview questions and do an oral activity in order to prep for their mid-term interview. Students have already made their lapbooks entitled "How to survive your French Interview 101- (Comment survivre votre entrevue de français 101) This lapbook is a great took in order to prep answers for the interview questions.
- Interviews will be 10-15 minutes long. If a student is confident and well-prepared than the interview will be 10 minutes at most. It is those who are not prepared that the interview grows longer. This is because I need an accurate sample of a student's oral production. It is in your best interest to prepare at home and look at the potential questions. Be familiar with the questions and how you would answer them.
- Most importantly, stay CALM and be CONFIDENT! I will not ask any question that I do not think you can handle. You are better than you think you are!
- ENTREVUES: EXAM WEEK le 26 janvier - le 30 janvier SEE YOU THERE!
- Sign up sheet is posted on the Homepage of my website. If you forget your time, check it out!

Septembre
- Students learned several expressions in French, so they can speak French in routine classroom situations.
- We also did some warm-up activities to ease us back into French after all summer!
- Students started their very own "Lexique"! It is a foldable dictionary where they can add new words and expressions that they learn in French class. This is an ongoing assessment and students are aware that a minimum of 5 words/week are expected. I will collect their lexiques before reporting periods in order to evaluate their progress.
- Lapbooks - Comment survivre le français 101: DUE vendredi, le 26 septembre,
- Students were introduced to a technique called "Circonlocution". It is really difficult to say or write something in another language when one does not know the word. "Circonlocution" is a strategy for defining or describing a concept in place of saying the exact word. It is a roundabout way of speaking that is useful for beginning second language learners! We experimented with this strategy with a game and the "sac de mystère".

Octobre
- We started an interactive journal le 1er octobre. It is a great way for students to use French in a reflective and creative way. The purpose of the journal is encourage writing for expression and students are able to practice their writing without the pressure of a formal assignment. Conventions and grammar are not graded in Journals. Grammar will be graded in formal assignments. Journals will be due into me at reporting periods and will be graded on completion. Check out my Journal Page under French 3201 for copies of each journal.
- le 8 octobre - We went on a walk around Placentia in order to complete a self-reflection assignment entitled "Vocabulaire en plein air". Students were given 8 adjectives/feelings before the walk and were asked to look at elements of nature/Placentia with these 8 feelings in mind. Once they saw an object on the walk that corresponded to a particular feeling, they jotted it down. Students then compiled all their notes into an assignment.

- Before we get too deep into the course, students will receive a lesson on sentence structure and formation. We start with a "Phrase mystère" warm-up activity and proceed into a project called Build-a-Sentence. Students always have difficulty with forming coherent sentences, therefore this lesson is proving beneficial to them as they build their sentence by parts of speech.
